It is a great honor to announce the 14th Annual PhD Project
Accounting Doctoral Students (ADSA) Conference. This year’s conference will be held in Anaheim, CA at
Sheraton Hotel, August 1-3, 2008, just prior to the American Accounting Association Meeting ,(AAA).
The theme for this year’s conference is "Building a Diverse Academic Community."
As in past years, the conference will begin with a general welcome followed
by breakout sessions for all students. The breakout session is designed to address important issues particular to the
student’s level. Students who are beginning their first year in their program are encouraged to attend the New Student
Strategies session. Students who have previously attended this session, but have not yet taken their comprehensive exams,
are encouraged to attend the Intermediate Student Strategies session. Those who have passed comprehensive exams, but not
yet entered the job market, are encouraged to attend the Advanced Student Strategies session. The Emerging Student Strategies
session, for students entering the job market, will include tips and suggestions for navigating through the AAA’s Placement
Center.
Top accounting researchers will speak to us about research and teaching.
In addition, we have invited several successful accounting academics who will inspire and motivate us to achieve
our goals. There will also be the opportunity for student member to present their research and receive valuable
feedback form other members of the association. Faculty member of the association will also have an opportunity
to present their research at this year’s conference.
We also invite you to join African-American, Hispanic-American,
and Native American accounting faculty, invited editors from various Accounting journals, and other
special guests at The PhD Project ADSA Dinner on Sunday, August 3rd at Sheraton Hotel. This dinner has
proven to be a wonderful opportunity for doctoral students to begin networking, form mentoring relationships,
and celebrate the accomplishments of our ADSA members and friends. Please see the conference agenda for more details.
All eligible students will
receive a personalized email invitation by April 21. If you have not received
your email invitation by April 28, please contact Anita English,
